Renovations
Well we have been hard at work to make the Pub even more welcoming. The oyster bar has been remodeled and we have insulated and added more heat to the bathrooms (for those of you who have suffered, no more cold seat!). Reopening tomorrow, can not believe it has been a week already!

New on tap at the Pub - Eider's Fall IPA. Fashioned after traditional British IPAs, this brass colored beer with dry-hopped aroma and bold taste is particularly enjoyable with grilled meats and seafood. IPAs are popular all year but as the days and nights get colder then they really hit their stride. These are full bodied ales with a slightly higher alcohol content. Originally the Pale Ales were meant to be stored for 2 years before serving. They were popular among East India Company traders and the demand for the export product was high thus earning the name India Pale Ale. Legend has it that these ales were formulated to survive the trip to India but, this appears to be false as other ales also were exported and did well.

Summer is officially over this weekend and soon we will switch from the crisp Shipyard Summer Ale to the spicy Shipyard Pumpkinhead. Of the pumpkin beers this is the most mellow, you get the taste of autumn without the overpowering spice of some pumpkin beers. Stop in and try a pint, you may find that you have a new favorite fall ale.

New Wine
New wine on the list - Big Claw. That's the name of a new wine specifically designed to pair with Maine's favorite red crustacean. In this case the wine is white -- actually a blend of several white grapes. But the logo is red. A portion of sales of Big Claw will go toward research and development at the Lobster Institute. Learn more about the wine from an interview on MPBN

Guinness 250 is now available on draft at the pub. This exceptional summer Stout is only being offered from May thru September. This is in honor of Arthur Guinness' signing the lease on St. James's Gate Brewery in Dublin, Ireland 250 years ago. I find this reminds me alot of a good black and tan premixed! Great Guinness flavor, bubbly and lighter than it's big brother. Well worth a try this summer season!
